How to Encourage Young Children to Engage into Sports
To maintain a healthy and strong body one must engage in sports and other body work out fit for our need. One factor also is the fast growing technology and the transformation of the way of life style we have today where people are on to gadgets, online and virtual games in which they will just sit and look at in the big screen. Thus less kids get involve in physical activities like sports. Kids who involved in physical activities and sports are at lower risk of suffering anxiety and depression. This must be with coordinated and supervised environment. Another question will be, how can you convince them to involve in playing sports and enjoy the health perks of it? First, allow your kids to pick and choose the sports they want to play. Allowing kids to have fun and enjoy the activity should be the first goal of the parents to keep their child’s interest and keeping them to continue doing it. It is not necessary to let them join in school soccer, hockey, and basketball or volleyball team. It is good to cheer them on. However, always keep in mind that they must be part of the decision-making.
Second, reinforce the fondness for playing sports. Parent must fuel the desire and devotion of their child by letting them in and showing them little by little the benefits of the sport not just the physical but also the emotional and psychological benefits. Parents also must learn to say positive things about the sports their kinds find interested too. Children will lose interest in the sports they once enjoyed if the coach always yells at them and fails to mold or nurture them. A friendly and approachable coach having a passion in his/her work will keep the child’s interest in the sport. Let happiness and joy flow instead of fear of the coach. Adding some loads to the child aside from their academics may seem overwhelming and stressful. For instance, parents must not be too hard to their child in terms of household chores.
Most kids love rewards and another way to help them get to enjoy and have fun in the sports is by uttering a promise. Parents must also remember that in saying a promise you don’t need to set a high standard like for example if you win will be allow to have this and that-the simple act of participating is enough to get an incentive.
There are a lot of physical, psychological health and social benefits to kids. And also find time to ask your kids about the things they want and they don’t want.
